Self Confidence

Self Confidence | How Do I Get Self Confidence?

Most people that lack self confidence do so based on a fear. In fact all negative emotions are fear based. One thing we learned from Esther Hicks, (From The Secret) emotions are a guidance system that let us know if we really want something. If you don’t feel good about something then chances are the opposite of the situation causing the fear is what you really want.

So how do we gain self confidence? By pushing past our comfort zone. Make yourself do something that you really don’t want to. That’s easily said, but seriously, it is necessary in order to gain self confidence.

A short list of self confidence boosting habits include;

Practice in front of a mirror, or internal visualization techniques where you play out the situation that you fear your not capable of handling. It is well known, when you visualize, your mind doesn’t recognize whether the event is real or not. Just like a basketball player picturing making that shot over and over in his head, when he stands at the free throw line and mindlessly shoots the shot, he makes it.

I use that technique to prepare for an upcoming event when I want to exude extreme confidence. It becomes easier because in your mind you have already done it so many times, it just happens the way you want it too.

Caring about how you dress; can you remember the feeling you had when you were headed back to school after the summer break; you had this great new wardrobe and you couldn’t wait to show all your friends your new clothes? Get that same excited confident feeling when you have that great new set of clothes laid out for your first day at that new job. You know your going to look sharp, and you will also feel sharp. Make each day that first day by getting everything ready the night before and be prepared to wow those co-workers with that great outfit.

Self Confidence | I Really Need to Be My Best

Get a good nights sleep by meditating right at bedtime. Drift off to sleep with some great music designed to help you rest. I never have trouble sleeping when I get into the alpha state of mind. Alpha state is when your focused on one thought or no thought. It’s important to quiet your mind and there is no better way than to listen to a guided meditation.

Now you have gotten a good nights sleep, you have your wardrobe ready to go, nothing can stop you from getting that confidence going; except you. Whenever you have a thought that maybe your not ready for what ever it is you need to do, it’s because inside or at a sub-conscious level you don’t feel adequate. Maybe you feel you lack the skills to perform the task in front of or with all those other highly skilled people. Bull, yes you can, because in your spare time you have visualized the outcome you wish to happen. You also have been continuing your education and gained a number of skills that will allow you to shine above the rest. There is no replacement for knowledge when it comes to displaying self confidence.

Walking to a job interview? Pick up the pace a little and increase your confidence. If your dragging your butt along the way you have given your mind time to add more what if’s to the situation. Stop beating your self up concerning yourself about what ifs, and get along with your bad self…

There is a mind police, and it’s you. You are the only one that can stop those feelings of lack, by replacing those thoughts with pleasant images of things that make you happy. Always have a favorite person place or thing that makes you laugh when you think of it. I use a funny scene presented to me by my grandson. Some of the things that 4 year old says is hilarious!
